Message

There are people who claim to have been called by God, but when you look closely, you will realise that they are only going into ministry because they failed at everything else. Today, I will be discussing some of the things God looks for in the people He calls into service.

Anyone who will receive the call of God cannot be lazy. God does not call lazy people. If someone is lazy, that fellow is useless to himself or herself. When you look at everyone whom God called in the Bible, you will discover that they were all busy people. Jesus called Peter after he had fished all night - lazy people don't work all night. When Elisha received the call of God through Elijah, he was on the farm plowing with twelve yokes of oxen before him (1 Kings 19:19).

God works with the principle He stated in Luke 16:10:

He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

If you are not faithful in the earthly work that you are doing now, God will not commit souls into your hands. Jesus asked in Mark 8:36, "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" In other words, He was saying that just one human soul is more valuable than the entire world. Therefore, souls are too precious for Him to commit into the hands of a lazy person.

God is not lazy. Jesus Christ said in John 5:17 that His Father works, and He works too. Since Amos 3:3 says that two cannot walk together except they agree, then you cannot work with God if you are lazy.

People who are lazy and want to serve God in ministry are people who want to eat without working: this is totally against the will of God.2 Thessalonians 3:10 says that those who do not work should not eat. After God created man, the first thing He gave him was work.

   And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress and to keep it.    ..Genesis 2:15

The scripture above shows how important work is to God. Beloved, the next time you see lazy people claiming that God has called them into ministry, stay away from them because God does not call lazy people.

Bible In One Year:
Genesis 18-20

Hymn:
Onward, Christian Soldiers!

Key Point:
God does not call lazy people.

King James Version

Proverbs 6: 6-11

Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: [7] Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, [8] Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. [9] How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? [10] Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: [11] So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
RCCG Hymn

Onward, Christian soldiers!

  1. Onward, Christian soldiers!
    Marching as to war.
    Looking unto Jesus,
    Who is gone before;
    Christ, the Royal Master,
    Leads against the foe;
    Forward into battle.
    See His banners go.

  2. Onvoard, Christian soldiers!
    Marching as to war,
    Looking unto Jesus,
    Who is gone before.

  3. At the name of Jesus
    Satan's host doth flee;
    On then. Christian soldiers
    On to victory!
    Hell's foundations quiver
    At the shout of praise:
    Brothers, lift your voices.
    Loud your anthems raise.
  4. Like a mighty army
    Moves the Church of God:
    Brothers, we are treading
    Whore the saints have trod.
    We are not divided.
    All one body we
    One in hope and doctrine.
    One in charity.
  5. Crowns and thrones may perish.
    Kingdoms rise and wane;
    Hut the Church of Jesus
    Constant will remain:
    Gales of hell c an never
    'Gainst that church prevail;
    We have Christ's own promise-
    And that cannot fail.
  6. Onward then, ye people,
    loin our happy throng;
    Blend with ours your voices
    In the triumph song:
    "Glory, praise and honour.
    Unto Christ the King",-
    This, through countless ages.
    Men and angels sing.
